Who is Tayo Rockson?

Tayo Rockson is a diversity and inclusion strategist, an internationally-recognized speaker, and the host of As Told By Nomads; which is the # 1 cross-cultural podcast in the world and was ranked the #2 Business Podcast by Entrepreneur.

“I’m a Nigerian and I grew up as the son of a Diplomat so, inherently, I was always a walking contradiction. I was a minority everywhere I went.” – Tayo Rockson

Should Companies Change Their Leadership Styles for Millennials?

One of the things I love about Tayo is the fact we are able to have an open, honest, mature debate about the different ways we see the world, and business, without either one of us taking it personally.

One of the things Tayo and I disagree on the most is whether or not businesses should change the culture of their company in order to appease millennials.

“At the end of the day a company is about the people. So, if you’re hiring a bunch of millennials, you’ve got to make sure the environment is inclusive for them.” – Tayo Rockson

The Importance of Having an Open Conversation About Race and Diversity

Being a Caucasian woman, I don't always speak my mind for fear of my comments being interpreted as racist. That's certainly not my intention and it's the last thing I want to be thought of as.

This is a common fear for most Caucasian people and Tayo says this fear needs to stop silencing us. It's only when we can have an open, honest conversation that we can educate each other, begin to understand one another, and make real progress towards a more inclusive world.

“You’ve got to create a new possibility, and create a new future, if you’re going to let go of the past.” – Heather Havenwood
