Entrepreneurial Success: One Client at a Time

In this episode, I ask Jamie Jay, founder of SlapShot Media how he grew his virtual online business service agency into a success for himself while serving clients around north America. This is a story of a solo entrepreneur turn, marketing agency, to entrepreneurial success. It starts with one client, then the next and then the next. Listen to Jamie Jay’s Journey…get inspired.

Getting in the Game

Jaime jay is the host of the podcast, Stop Riding the Pine. As an avid hockey fan, Jaime used a sports analogy to name his show. He's all about getting entrepreneurs into the game and off of the bench.

Jumping In

Jaime was a paratrooper in the army. He was part of a first response reactionary force. He was trained as part of a group that could be ready to be in any area of the world in under 24 hours. Instead of arriving by land or sea, paratroopers arrive via a jump out of plane.

“Entrepreneurs have to get off the bench and get in the game!” – Jaime Jay

Automating the Podcast Industry

As an entrepreneur, Jaime is always looking for ways to make work easier for clients. His new venture Podcast Pilot does just that.

“Time is an entrepreneur's most valuable resource” – Jaime Jay

Podcasting is a lot of hard work. There is the recording, editing and creating show notes. One 1-hour episode actually takes about 3-and-a-half to 4 hours to produce and pilot.

Jaime designed an automated software platform to free up more time for his clients. It's as easy as uploading an episode to his software and his company handles the rest.

Podcast Pilot is a way to put your podcast on auto pilot” – Jaime Jay

Self-Selling?

Jaime loves to help others with their messaging. It's important to convey your message in a sentence or two. If it's longer, the likelihood of someone understanding what you offer and how it can benefit them goes down exponentially.

Jaime struggled with this himself. He has a media agency and offered everything to everyone. it was hard to put into a couple of sentences what he offered and why it was valuable.

He broke his one-stop agency into smaller agencies that provided specific solutions for entrepreneurs. Jaime now has an agency to create your website Slapshot Studio, an agency to support websites DoneForYouWP, a podcast solution agency Podcast Pilot and a way to scale your business Bottleneck VA.

Jaime Jay's Bio

Jaime is an avid hockey fan. He loves the competitive spirit and the team aspect of the game. He enjoys the sport so much that he decided to integrate his passion for the sport into his passion for marketing. Jaime has been working in the sales and marketing arena since he left the US Army as a paratrooper for the 82nd Airborn Division in 1994.

Working for three different fortune 100 companies, Jaime learned quickly how to build relationships. The challenging aspect of working for a large company was having the ability to be creative. This is the main reason he went out on his own and started his own business. His first business was as a partner in a small California-based real estate advertising agency and publishing company. After the housing bubble burst in 2008, Jaime had to start over.

As time progressed, Jaime found that he really enjoyed making websites for people and so he started Slapshot Studio in 2013 and never looked back. Jaime enjoys traveling, boating, playing guitar, hanging out with family, and playing hockey.
