WHH33: Financial Mental Flip with Winnie Sun

Winnie Sun Heather Havenwood

Who is Winnie Sun?

Winnie Sun is the Managing Director and founding partner of Sun Group Wealth Partners. She has her own column on Forbes.com and has been featured on other major media outlets such as CBS, CNBC, Fox News, Wall Street Journal, Yahoo!, and much more. She uses her expertise and fun personality to leverage herself on social media and stand out from the boring suits of the financial planning industry.

“It’s not the audience’s responsibility to find me. It’s my responsibility to go out there and meet them.” – Winnie Sun

Leveraging Yourself Using Social Media

Winnie admits she fought against social media in the beginning but she has certainly made it up for it now. Winnie and I actually conducted this interview via Facebook Live and were also live-tweeting on Twitter. This is what I call LEVERAGING your social media so that it works for you.

I get so tired of hearing people say they don't like social media, or that they only want to use one platform. Using social media to create and repurpose content is one of the best tools entrepreneurs can have in their toolkit and one of the things I love about Winnie is that she completely understands this.

“It doesn’t matter how good you are at what you do [..] if nobody knows that you exist, you essentially don’t exist.” – Winnie Sun

How Winnie Utilizes Global Tweet Chats

I've noticed lately there is a “social media arrogance”, as I like to call it, amongst entrepreneurs and businesses. It seems all anyone cares about is how many followers a person has. Obviously, I think social media is important but we can't forget the people behind the accounts with a small following are still people who can bring value to the world and business.

Winnie feels the same way so she makes a point to have a Global Tweet Chat on Twitter every Wednesday where she connects with anyone who wants to connect with her; regardless of their follower count.

“There's always someone bigger and more important than you, but that doesn’t mean that you’re not as relevant.” – Winnie Sun
